Hi my name is Kelly ( grandmother's maiden name) and my maiden surname is Gibbons, (my married name is Benedict). One grandparent from Newportthe other from Westport. I know my grandfather Martin Edward Gibbons had a large family. I think there were 13 in all. Most of them emigrated to the U.S. except for two I believe one, Dan Gibbons, stayed back in Ire on the family homestead and raised his family

Hello Brad Stern, I am enclosing a photo of a gathering of what I believe to be your Gibbon relatives. I believe the elderly bald man would be your great grandfather Charles. He would be my great Uncle. His sister, my grandmother Julia Gibbons Driscoll, is the 4th from the left, in the middle row. I believe this picture was taken sometime in 1950s in Bridgeport Ct. My older sister's would talk about a very nice cousin named Kitty

I have attached the Deer Lodge County Montana marriage
certificate signed by Pat Gibbons of Butte, Montana as a witness for my
paternal great grandparents, Thomas Logan and Nora (Honora) Sullivan. The other
witness signature is by Hannah Barry of Anaconda, Montana, so perhaps there was
a relationship with Pat Gibbons. Anaconda is about thirty miles from Butte, the
home of the ACM( Anaconda Copper Mining Company) also part of the Amalgamated
Copper Company. There was a smelter operation in Anaconda, where my maternal
great grandfather worked and thereby would have had a relationship with Pat
Gibbons. A document from my maternal grandmother shows Nora's surname
McKiernan, so we are researching this discrepancy. She is supposed to be from
Cahersiveen in County Kerry. My great grandfather was known as "Blackie
Logan," which we believe was due to him being Black Irish. He was from
Galway and arrived in Anaconda via Leadville, Colorado. Please feel free to

I am a Gibbons from South Africa ,I am trying to trace my family back as far as possible. I have been researching none-stop for the past 8 months and have had some luck but would like more. My great-great-grandfather was Charles Sydney Gibbons, he was born in May 1871 and died in the year 1913 on the 25th of May. He lived most of his life in Salisbury, Rhodesia and later passed away in Salisbury, England. He had Stomach cancer and was forced to travel to England for surgery, leaving his wife, Mary Louise, nee Unknown, and my great-grandfather, Cyril Charles Gibbons behind. The surgery however was unfortunately not effective. His father I suspect was named William Alfred Gibbons, who was born and raised in Wiltshire, England. He married Eglantine Roberts and they had their first child when she was only 13. Can anybody help me to go further back along this line? Any help would be much appreciated and I can help others where I can aswell.

Iโm also working on getting in touch with Gibbonsโs. My father, John Edward Gibbons was born in 1931, in Chicago, Illinois his father Martin Edward Gibbons was born on the 9th of March 1895 in Rosclave Mayo County emigrated from Mayo County, Ireland landed in New York and made his way to Chicago where he met Bridget Kelly and they married. Martins fatherโs name was Edward (Ned) Gibbons I think his birth year is 1855, who was married to Bridget (Sheridan) Gibbons, her birth year is 1861. Martin had several siblings which are as follows: 1) Thomas who married Mary Katherine Guiles 2) Catherine married Thomas OโDonnell they had 7 kids 3)Mary (Molly) had one child named Veronica 4) Patrick and he married Agnus Gaynor, one child named Thomas. 5) Eddie 6) Michael (Mike) 7) some records call her Honor but her name was really Norah 8) Agnus who stayed in Ireland 9) Dan he had 13 children and stayed in Ireland 10) Joseph who went to New York 11) Tony/Anthony who moved to England and finally 12) Jim/James who moved to Ohio. Other than the people I had a destination for the rest who did not stay in Ireland went to the USA.
I am so eager to learn more about my heritage. Hopefully these names mean something to someone else here and we could connect.

My great grandfather was Charles John Gibbons born 28 May 1874 in Illogan, Cornwall, England to John Gibbons and Ellen (Kelrnan) Gibbons. Charles married Nora Theresa Breck (born in County Kerry, Ireland) on 20 April 1898 in Bridgeport, CT and they had 8 children together. Nora passed away 21 July 1952 in Stratford, CT and Charles passed away 9 November, 1962 in Bridgeport, CT.
I have no information about my great grandfather's family other than what I have indicated above and would appreciate adding more information about him to my family tree.

I am working on my family history. My grandmother was Julia Gibbons from Cambourne Cornwall. She was the daughter of John and Ellen Gibbons, who were both from Cork Ireland. They were a tin mining family. Julia had two sisters Kathrine Gibbons Sullivan (who immigrated to Bridgeport Connecticut) and Louise Gibbons Cooney (who immigrated to Butte, Montana). Her brothers Con Gibbons, JohnGibbons and Pat Gibbons also came to Butte, Montana to mine copper. Her brother Charles Gibbons went with his sister Kate to Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was an engineer. My grandmother kept in close communication with her Bridgeport relatives, but after the death of this generation communication has stopped. Are there any Gibbons relatives who recognize any of this information?
